Phulun Zung Kan Gam : Crispy Fried Hooker Chives.

Hello Everyone.. This is my first blog post and I’m  excited and a little nervous, I hope you like my recipe..

Today recipe is Roots of Hooker Chives side dish.

Phulun zung (hooker chives) is a bulbous herb with thick, fleshy roots and the leaves are flat and narrow. It have a wide variety of culinary uses, such as in traditional dishes with sathu (fermented meat fats) or ngathu/ngari (fermented fish) as a side dish. It is also use as a flavouring herbs for main dish and soups and is use in pakoras and pancakes too.

Phulun zung is one of my favourite vegetables and herbs. Heres one of my favourite Phulun zung recipe..

Ingredients

~ Phulun zung/ Roots of Hooker chives
~ Malta hing / Green Chilies
~ Phulun san/ Red Onions
~ Aieng vui/ Turmeric powder
~ Malta vui/ Chili powder
~ Sathau/ Oil
~ Chi/ Salt

First clean the roots of hooker chives with cold water (you can cut of the thin tail) and ready all the ingredients.

Heat oil in a pan add red onions and saute, when onions turns translucent, add green chilies and saute, then add turmeric powder, chili powder and salt, mix well. Now add the hooker chives mix well and fry till done (stir in between).

Delicious chives is ready to eat!!!  Happy Cooking!!!

‪#‎ You‬ don’t need to add any other spices as the chives has a strong delicious flavour.

‪# ‎Here‬ I add more oil than i usually do so that the chives are more crisp and high flame use while cooking.
